Effort, Motivation and Student Achievement-ESP

Based in research-based activities to assist educators increase student achievement, C.A.R.E focuses on four themes--Culture, Ability, Resiliency, and Effort. This workshop session will focus on Effort, which is defined in this context as the energy used in reaching a goal that is maximized when students receive encouragement and there are high expectations for quality work. We will examine the difference between praise and encouragement and between effort and motivation, and how these differences may impact classroom practice. Also, we will engage in activities exploring intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and how each can be utilized effectively in an educational setting. This workshop is appropriate for both teachers and paraeducators.

From Vinyl to MP3 Players: Understanding the Generational Shift in the Workplace-ESP
